Analyses of Coal and Minerals

The supply of energy for our daily activities is taken for granted and seems straightforward. The majority of our electricity is produced in power plants that use coal as primary energy source.

There are, however, important parameters and criteria that must be fulfilled before coal can be used in a power plant. These parameters can be investigated at TLR, including volatile matter content, moisture content, crude swelling number and the hardgrove gridability index.

Analyses of Coal & Minerals

  • Determination of volatile matter content
  • Determination of total moisture content
  • Determination of crude swelling number (FSI)
  • Determination of hard grove grindability index (HGI)
  • Determination of volatile matter
  • Determination of carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen
  • Determination of sulphur
  • Determination of fusibility of ash
  • Determination of gross and net caloric value and proximate
