Agriculture Auditor /Technical Reviewer

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Control Union Inspections (Pvt.) Ltd. at Colombo, Sri Lanka for AGRICULTURE AUDITOR/ TECHNICAL REVIEWER.

As an Agriculture Auditor/ Technical Reviewer you will be responsible for the application of organic and sustainable agriculture and regulatory requirements and principles against established standards and protocols while conducting audits. And to conduct review of assessment activities prior to the certification decision for some of the most appreciated sustainability related certification programs. The position requires strong communication. Applicants must have extensive knowledge of the agriculture industry. You will be initiating and conducting on site audit activities at our clients. You will be responsible for preparing and distributing your audit findings in an audit report; and for conducting audit reviews.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Audit Execution: Conduct audits in line with your qualifications, including on-site visits, remote evaluations, and report writing for clients in Asia.
• Report reviewing: Audit reports / Organic System Plan reviewing as per requirements of the standards
• Qualification Maintenance: Maintain and pursue qualifications as an auditor and task manager for various agriculture-related certifications such as EU Organic, USDA-NOP, JAS, etc
• Task Management: Oversee audit budgeting, planning, scheduling, and maintain certification databases for clients.
• Reporting: Prepare comprehensive audit reports and present evaluation findings.
• Team Support: Provide general support to team members in customer care coordination and administration.
• Additional Duties: Carry out other tasks as assigned to support the team and organization.

Requirements

• Educational Background: Post-secondary education in agriculture, horticulture, natural resources, environmental sciences, social sciences, rural development, or similar fields. A solid understanding of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) is essential.
• Experience: 2 years of experience in the agriculture sector and related industries, with a focus on environment management. Familiarity with farm and supply chain auditing standards is highly desirable.
• Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with standards such as Organic, HACCP, ISO 9001, ISO 22000, is advantageous.
• Language Skills: Fluency in English and Sinhala is required. Knowledge of Tamil is a plus.
• Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel nationwide and internationally, accounting for approximately 50% of work time.
• Integrity: High ethical standards and integrity, with the ability to balance client needs with the responsibilities of an auditor.
