Chemist (Coal Lab)
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Karachi, Pakistan for CHEMIST (COAL LAB).
As a Chemist Coal Lab, you will be responsible for tasks and responsibilities as given below. Applicants must have extensive knowledge of Chemist Coal Lab. The position expects good communication, analyzing and observing skills in addition to being a keen reader and detail oriented.

Tasks & responsibilities
- Plan, supervise, and execute the installation and commissioning of the coal testing laboratory.
- Ensure proper setup, calibration and validation of all laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, including sample handling, testing, reporting, and record keeping.
- Perform and/ or supervise coal analysis such as proximate analysis, ultimate analysis, GCV, total moisture, inherent moisture, ash, VM and fixed carbon, as per applicable standards (ASTM / ISO).
- Ensure accurate, reliable and timely issuance of test results to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with laboratory standards.
- Maintain laboratory documentation, SOPs, test methods, and calibration records.
- Monitor laboratory consumables, chemicals & spares and ensure timely procurement.
- Ensure health, safety and environmental compliance within the laboratory.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to testing, equipment or results.
- Train and guide laboratory staff/ technicians, if applicable.
- Coordinate with management, clients and inspectors regarding testing requirements and reporting timelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry / Applied Chemistry / Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience as a Coal Chemist or Laboratory Chemist, preferably in coal, minerals or energy sector.
- Strong knowledge of coal testing methods, standards and laboratory practices.
- Experience in laboratory setup or commissioning will be a strong advantage.
- Good understanding of QA/ QC systems and reporting requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of laboratory operations.
- Excellent time management with a focus on meeting reporting deadlines.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
