The Animal Welfair® certification is designed to promote animal welfare in animal production chains.
Animal Welfair®
About the Standard
The standard establishes requirements and criteria based on direct observation of animals and demonstrates a commitment to animal welfare throughout all stages of handling, transportation, and production.
Based on the European Welfare Quality® and AWIN® frameworks, the certification aims to encourage practices that promote animal health, comfort, safety, and natural behavior, contributing to more responsible and sustainable production systems aligned with market and societal expectations.
The requirements cover housing conditions, adequate feeding and hydration, responsible handling, prevention of diseases and injuries, behavioral aspects such as positive emotional states, training of personnel involved, traceability, and continuous monitoring of implemented practices.
