GreenSign Hotel is a sustainability certification system for businesses in the hospitality industry, designed to assess and demonstrate responsible environmental, social, and economic practices. Organizations are evaluated against sustainability criteria covering areas such as energy and water, waste management, sustainable purchasing, employee responsibility, and sustainability management.
What is GreenSign Institut GmbH?
The GreenSign Institut is an independent scheme owner and certification body for various standards.
The institute assesses whether the business is meeting the requirements of the standard GreenSign Hotel. The criteria of the standard encompass all three pillars of sustainability and are divided into 10 core areas.
GreenSign Hotel provides transparent and verified proof of your sustainability performance. The verification process involves evaluating the required documentation and conducting on-site inspections by an independent auditor. Upon fulfilment of the minimum requirements of the certification program, the GreenSign Institut issues the business a certificate.
GreenSign Hotel
The certification program is aimed at accommodation establishments with at least ten beds, as defined by the Accommodation Statistics Act (BeherbStatG). The program is applicable for individual and hotel groups, branded or independent. Available worldwide, subject to regulatory, political, and security restrictions.
How does it work?
In the first year, the local Control Union office in your country conducts an independent on-site audit at your hotel. In the second and third years, the audits are conducted remotely.
