A major international retailer became aware of a potential cockroach infestation in a 40ft container of textiles. With no confirmed assessment of the infestation, the client faced uncertainty and risk around product loss, supply chain delays, and reputational impact.

They required the container to be treated and inspected quickly so they could resume normal operations, while ensuring the textiles were not damaged in the process.

Control Union was selected to deliver a safe and effective solution. Our team proposed the use of a mobile controlled atmosphere unit to carry out a non-toxic treatment, eliminating pests without harming the textiles.

The container was transported to Rotterdam, where the unit was connected directly, and a three-week treatment was applied. This method ensured full pest eradication while maintaining product integrity, avoiding the risks associated with traditional chemical fumigation.

The textiles were carefully handled throughout unloading and reloading to ensure full exposure to treatment. Following completion, an independent visual inspection was conducted to confirm the absence of pests, providing assurance to the client.
