Regional Technical Manager

Tell us a little about your current role at Control Union

I work as Regional Technical Manager in charge of five sites: Serra-ES, Itacoatiara-AM, São Luis-MA, Barcarena-PA and Santarem-PA.

My role involves conducting technical visits to different sites and terminals, liaising with those responsible for the terminals, third parties, and authorities such as Customs, the Federal Police, etc. I provide support to teams for access to these terminals and agencies, while also promoting regional improvements in our infrastructure, accessibility, and operational processes.

Additionally, I ensure compliance with the company’s policies on independence, impartiality, and confidentiality, and analyse critical points and risks in the operational area. Collaborating with senior and general management, I help define risk management strategies for the supervisory body. I also manage supplier approvals and assessments, applying my knowledge of the ISO/IEC 17020 standard to operational issues.

What do you find the most interesting aspect in your role?

What I find most interesting about my role is the opportunity to leverage communication and interpersonal skills while working with diverse teams and clients to achieve new outcomes.

The role requires strategic thinking and problem-solving, particularly when it comes to finding innovative solutions in a dynamic environment. I also enjoy applying an analytical mindset, using data to make informed decisions and improve processes. Efficiently managing financial resources is another key aspect, helping to drive the business forward.

Finally, the adaptability and resilience required to adjust to changes and overcome obstacles in an ever-evolving landscape keeps the work both challenging and rewarding.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

What I enjoy most about my role is the opportunity to lead and develop teams, while influencing business strategies that shape the company’s direction. I thrive on the interaction with a diverse range of people and find great satisfaction in having a direct impact on the company’s success. Seeing the tangible results of my efforts reflected in positive outcomes for the business is incredibly rewarding.

What has been the highlight of your time with the company so far?

The highlight of my 24 years with the company has been the incredible journey of dedication and partnership that continues to this day. Throughout this time, I have experienced significant personal and professional growth, sharing and acquiring valuable experiences along the way. The collaboration and friendships I’ve built over the years have been particularly meaningful and rewarding.

If you were to meet a group of 10-year-olds who are eager to learn about the work that you do, can you tell us what you will say to them?

I would say that it is a challenging, rewarding, and opportunity-filled job that spans various sectors, including agriculture, mining, and other industries.
