HIGG FEM – verification

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Control Union, at Tirupur, India for AUDITOR – TEXTILE CERTIFICATIONS.

As an Auditor – Textiles focussed on the Higg FEM Verification, you will be responsible for conducting independent and objective verification of facility environmental performance information in accordance with the applicable Higg Facility Environmental Module (FEM) requirements, verification protocols, and applicable program procedures.

The position may perform verification activities as a Generalist Verifier, Chemical Specialist Verifier, or both, subject to the individual’s approved competency, qualification.

The Higg FEM Verifier is responsible for ensuring that assigned verification activities are performed competently, objectively, consistently, impartially, and in accordance with applicable Higg FEM requirements and the organization’s established verification procedures.

The verifier shall maintain the highest standards of professional integrity and ensure that verification conclusions are supported by adequate and reliable objective evidence.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Conduct Higg FEM verification activities in accordance with applicable FEM requirements, verification protocols, and internal procedures.
  • Review facility information, FEM submissions, supporting documents, records, permits, monitoring data, and other relevant evidence.
  • Conduct on-site verification, including facility walkthroughs, document review, management discussions, and worker/employee interviews where applicable.
  • Verify the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of information reported by the facility.
  • Identify discrepancies, gaps, and findings based on objective evidence.
  • Maintain appropriate verification records and evidence for all verification conclusions.
  • Prepare accurate and timely verification reports and associated documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information and verification evidence.
  • Communicate professionally with facility representatives during verification activities.
  • Escalate technical, procedural, or integrity-related concerns to the appropriate technical/program management personnel.
  • Maintain competence through applicable training, calibration, technical updates, and continuing professional development.
  • Comply with the organization’s impartiality, confidentiality, code of conduct, conflict-of-interest, and information-security requirements.
  • Support internal quality activities such as technical review, calibration, witness assessments, and internal competency evaluations when assigned.
  • Maintain awareness of changes to Higg FEM requirements, verification procedures, and applicable environmental and chemical management practices.
  • Perform and manage activities and tasks assigned by the Reporting Manager.

Requirements

General Requirements

  • Cascale Approved Higg FEM Verifier (Generalist/Chemical Specialist)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Textile Engineering.
  • Relevant professional experience in environmental management, sustainability, EHS, manufacturing, chemical management, auditing, inspection, testing, or verification.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and associated environmental aspects.
  • Good understanding of environmental data, records, calculations, and performance indicators.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency of English & Tamil language is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and digital reporting systems.

  • Compliance with verification procedures

  • Completion of required training and competency activities
  • Feedback from technical/program management and witness assessments
  • Achieve the KPI for the task assigned by Reporting Manager.
