Global presence

In 2016, Control Union acquired a shareholding in MacAlister Elliott and Partners (MEP), a leading fisheries and aquaculture consultancy with over 40 years experience. We completed projects on every major continent and our staff work on a huge variety of projects, in both the fisheries and aquaculture sectors, with particular focus in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The way we work

We have developed a niche for the completion of feasibility and due diligence projects within both the fishing and aquaculture industries. However, this commercial aspect has not stopped us completing biological and analytical projects including large tuna tagging programs in the IOTC region and observer programs across the globe. We work with a large variety of stakeholders, from scientists and commercial organizations right through to the individual fisher folk, who fish simply to feed their family.

The GLOBALG.A.P. standard enhances good agricultural practices and reassures consumers about how food is produced on the farm. This is done by minimising the detrimental environmental impacts of farming operations, reducing the use of chemicals and ensuring a responsible approach to worker health and safety and animal welfare. Control Union Certifications BV is accredited by RVA for this scheme under registration nr. RvA-C412 Products. The scope includes the critical offices in Ethiopia, France, Hungary, Israel, Peru, South Africa and Sri Lanka.

MSC – Marine Stewardship Council

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) fisheries and MSC Chain of Custody (CoC) standards help companies and organisations to promote and identify wild caught fish as sustainable and well managed. Control Union Peru is accredited by ASI (Accreditation Services International) for the ASC and MSC CoC programs. Control Union UK is accredited by ASI (Accreditation Services International) for MSC Fisheries assessments and MSC / ASC CoC audit programs.

ASC - Aquaculture Stewardship Council

ASC – Aquaculture Stewardship Council

The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), fisheries and ASC Chain of Custody (CoC) standards help companies and organisations to promote and identify farm grown fish as having been responsibly produced. The CoC certification process covers fish from ‘farm to plate’ to ensure traceability for all products. Control Union Services is accredited by ASI (Accreditation Services International) for the ASC and ASC CoC program.
