SBP – Sustainable Biomass Program

The Sustainable Biomass Program (SBP) was founded by major European utilities that use biomass in power plants to certify sustainable wood biomass for energy use. Certification starts at the biomass producer, making forest certification no longer the only way to proof sustainability compliance. Control Union Certifications BV is accredited by ASI for this scheme under registration nr. ASI-ACC-017.

REDcert EU has originally been developed as one of the first voluntary schemes based on the European Renewable Energy Directive (RED). REDcert’s main focus is on European supply chains. This means that REDcert EU is mainly limited to application within European member states.

2BSvs – Biomass Biofuel Sustainability voluntary scheme

The French 2BSvs certification scheme is related to the sustainable production of biomass. It is particularly relevant to biofuel and biogas (methanisation) producers and their suppliers, such as traders and cooperatives, regarding raw materials from organic origin, including agricultural and forest products.

UER – Upstream Emission Reduction Verification

Following the EU Fuel Quality Directive (FQD), fuel suppliers in Europe are obliged to reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of transport fuels by six percent in 2020, compared to the baseline of 2010. As an ISO 14065 accredited validation and verification body, Control Union Certifications Germany GmbH is recognised by the DEHst (Deutsche Emissionshandelsstelle) to execute validation and verification of UER projects.
